For years, Australia’s conversation about sovereignty has been trapped between two tired options — one symbolic and sentimental, the other rigid and reductive. Neither has offered the country an inspirational future worth choosing. 

This summit announces the beginning of a third way — a transcendent path that honours the depth and wisdom of First Nations knowledge traditions while inviting all Australians into the work of building a shared future.

We’re gathering our thinkers, our leaders, our young people, our allies and our critics — not to rehearse old arguments, but to prototype something new. A sovereignty lived in relationships, expressed in policy, felt in community, and shaped by people willing to step forward with courage. If you believe Australia is capable of more than the trenches we’ve inherited, this is your invitation.

Over two days, we’ll work side-by-side — First Nations and non-Indigenous — to imagine the nation we could become when no group claims ownership of the future, and when the measure of leadership is how well we lift one another to our strongest, smartest selves.
